About the Program

The Aquarium's Project-Based Science Institute is specifically designed for teachers of middle and high school science. The program provides opportunities for teachers to:

Become familiar with the research behind Project-Based Science (PBS).
Understand expected outcomes for different types of projects.
Learn how to facilitate the Project Cycle with your students from creation to assessment.
Plan the implementation of PBS with your colleagues.
Network with community members to investigate issues and research in our area that could serve as project topics.
Learn how to incorporate new technologies into your projects.
Implement new teaching strategies and standards-based activities.
Explore conservation issues.

Eligibility: 6th through 12th grade teachers

Requirements:

Attend all sessions.
Implement a project with your students.
Present your work to the group at the end of the year.

Fee: None

Stipend: Available following completion of program

Credit: Units available through CSU Monterey Bay for an additional fee.
